Matt and I enjoyed a fun little getaway in Destin for Valentine’s Day. We had a fun time doing a romantic engagement session with Beth & Mark on the beach on Valentine’s Day, but the rest of the weekend we enjoyed spending time together.
We had a beautiful beachfront room and left the sliding glass door open at night to listen to the waves. The ocean breezes filled the room and now I am convinced that we need to sell our townhome and get a beachfront condo! I really didn’t want to leave!
Before the photo shoot, Matt and I did a little shopping around Destin. Our biggest stop was at AT&T where we bought our matching Valentine’s gifts… two beautiful, wonderful, fabulous, we’re-so-in-love-with-them iPhones!! Not only is the iPhone WAY cooler than we imagined (we are not, by any means, trendy people) but they have revolutionized the way we live! We are super busy and always on the go, and now our lives can go with us! Yes, we’re mobile!
Destin has sooooo many amazing restaurants. Matt, the planner that he is, made sure to check out reviews of restaurants and we decided to check out Pompano Joe’s for their famous Creamy Coconut drink and some seafood with a great view of the beach.
After shooting Beth & Mark’s engagement session, I took a nap! I was totally exhausted, but I just needed a short nap to get some energy before heading out for sushi at Osaka (which Beth & Mark suggested… thanks guys!). It was a very nice (and huge) restaurant and a great spot for dinner with my Valentine! Oh, and they also had a coconut frozen drink, so I indulged a bit. Hey, now! I only had one! : )
On the way back to our room, we saw the strangest thing. Thank goodness I had my little point and shoot tucked in my purse. How could I miss capturing this moment?! We never did see Scooby and the gang, but I’m sure they must have been discovering the truth behind the mysterious happenings at the aquarium next to our hotel!
After reluctantly packing our bags and saying goodbye to our gorgeous beach view, we headed off to Another Broken Egg, a MUST for anyone visiting Destin. They had the best breakfast I have ever had in my life. If you go to Destin, go to this restaurant. Wait in the line if there is one! You will not be disappointed!
We have an even busier schedule ahead of us over the next few days. Tomorrow we are off to Orlando to hang out with Carl before going to Sarasota on Friday morning for Christina & Brian’s marina wedding. On Saturday we head back to Jacksonville for my 30th birthday celebration (still working on the details). Then on Tuesday we have Lyndey & Todd’s destination wedding in Cocoa Beach (which will be lots of fun because they are so creative!). And on Wednesday I’m having a tonsillectomy. Oh yeah, just throw that into the schedule. No big deal! So it will be a little crazy, but you know we like to keep life interesting!
I’ll try to post as much as possible before my surgery and I’ll keep everyone updated on my recovery. I’m sure I will have plenty of time to blog since I won’t be able to talk for a while!! : )

We totally saw the scooby mobile on our way out saturday. Actually Mark noticed it. Never dawned on me scooby and the gang would be at the hotel i just thought it was crazy people driving the van. ~ Beth & Mark
I think you might be right! My first thought was “Awesome!! How cool is that?!” But then when I realized that someone actually did that to their own vehicle I was a little disturbed. Haha!
It was great seeing you guys again this weekend! People really love you dragging Mark through the sand. I totally give you credit for that idea!
Gwen, too awesome.. we tend to blog similarly :) I swear, I didn’t know you blogged about your “Valentine Vacation” too until now :) Too cool!!
